"Autumn Redyk"
The autumn redyk is one of the most important moments in the pastoral year. This is when sheep descend from the high mountain pastures and return to the valleys, where they will spend the upcoming winter. For centuries, this event was not only a practical end to the grazing season but also an important element of the pastoral culture of the Carpathians and Podhale.
The illustration "Autumn Redyk" was inspired by old pastoral traditions, mountain landscapes, and the folklore of southern Poland. Among the sheep and autumn colours appears the spirit of the mountains, taking the form of a highlander – the guardian of animals, protector of trails, and symbolic host of the mountain world.
The work combines elements of nature, folklore, and storytelling, referencing the rhythm of the seasons and the close relationship between humans, the landscape, and animals.
