"My Birch Grove"
For centuries, the birch tree has been one of the most important trees in Polish folk culture. It symbolized rebirth, health, youth, and feminine strength. Its bright bark illuminated the forests after winter, and its spring sap – known as oskoła – was considered a source of life-giving energy.
"My Birch Grove" depicts a female figure emerging from among the white trunks like a spirit of a birch grove. Surrounded by light and mist, she becomes part of nature – a symbol of delicacy, renewal, and inner strength. This illustration is inspired by ancient beliefs, in which the birch protected household members, brought health, and reminded us of the continuous cycle of regenerating life.
The illustration was created by Natalia Noszczyńska and is part of a collection inspired by Slavic mythology, folklore, and ancient traditions.
