On Kupala Night, also known as St. John's Night, young girls wove wreaths from wildflowers and herbs. Decorated with lit candles, they released them onto the water, believing that the way the wreath floated could reveal the future and provide answers about love, happiness, and upcoming events.

"Willow Maiden" is an illustration inspired by ancient Slavic beliefs, summer rituals, and the magic of the shortest night of the year. Amidst fire, flowers, water, and intertwining herbs, motifs of nature, femininity, and Slavic imagination are interwoven. And trees remember the past, for they have witnessed many Kupala Nights.

The illustration was created by Natalia Noszczyńska and is part of a collection inspired by Slavic mythology, folklore, and ancient traditions.
